A new initiative to showcase and test different imaginings of architecture practice within wider creative fields. The Night School, led by Tessa Forde, will launch as part of Toro Whakaara: Responses to our built environment and continue with four workshops over March.

For this event, join in a short workshop led by Tessa to introduce the theory and practice of The Night School, and to participate in activity that explores it.

The Night School will test the methodologies of alternative architecture practitioners and educators in the hope of sharing and forging new pathways within the discipline and building the collective momentum needed to imagine and perform new worlds. The workshops will take on the loose format of a ‘school’ with key topics discussed in an open forum.

Tessa Forde is an architectural designer and researcher interested in how architecture pedagogy and practice can strengthen and build communities. Having worked in traditional architecture practice for the past five years in Aotearoa and Los Angeles, while co-organising the non-traditional Free School of Architecture alongside three other women, Tessa is now pursuing a PhD at Huri Te Ao - The School of Future Environments at AUT.
