Contemporary jeweller Renee Bevan reflects on ideas, stories and experiences that underpin her ongoing research. Painting a context for her current practice within the framework of her recent work Burial Necklace.
Burial Necklace is part of the exhibition 'The Language of Things: Meaning and Value in Contemporary Jewellery', curated by Sian van Dyk, currently on show at The Dowse Art Museum, 24th Feb - 24th June 2018 and culminated from The Blumhardt Residency, in partnership with The Dowse Art Museum.

Renee Bevan is of Cook Island and European descent and resides in Auckland. In 2002, she gained Bachelor of Visual Arts from The University of Auckland and since then has been included in numerous national and international exhibitions including Schmuck 2008 and Ontkend! (Jewellery Unleashed) in 2011. She is represented in the collections of The Dowse Art Museum, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and The Auckland War Memorial Museum. Bevan is the inaugural recipient of The Blumhardt Residency.
